In the NWT we read at Matt 24:36: "Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father."

If Witnesses are correct that the day could be calculated by Ezekiel's prophecy, based on the destruction of Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the temple, then they are, in effect saying that, although Jesus was aware of the historical account of the destruction of Jerusalem, and was alive with the Father in heaven when the prophecy was made, and was alive with the Father in heaven when Jerusalem was destroyed......get this.......He didn't know there was going to be an antetypical (or antitypical I can't remember how to spell it or what it really means) fulfillment 2000 years in the future!!!!

But....then here comes JF Rutherford to the rescue. If only he were alive when Jesus was on earth, he could have explained to Jesus the far reaching implications of the prophecy that the WBTS to this day apparently don't believe Jesus understood when he was alive on earth.

    More observations forthcoming........

To what are you referring when you say the hour that no one knows?

drew, just as an aside, what JW's teach is not "the day or hour" of the big "A", what Jesus was refering to, but rather the day and hour (as it were) of his enthronement as king...

Yes, that's what I'm saying.......Jesus didn't know Ezekiel's prophecy concerned his enthronement as King if JW's are correct.

Jesus, according to JW's, wasnt refering to his enthronment but rather the date of "A"...

I often wondered as a young lad why, if it was so easy to work out 1914 using a mish-mash of Daniels 7 Times and another scripture written years apart about "a day for a year ", Jesus could not see that he was going to be enthroned in 1874, woops I mean 1914.

Whatever he was talking about in Matt 24, he gave the impression by his words to his followers that it was close, not 2000 years away, how come he could not interpret scripture like Russell and Rutherford etc ?

Not only did the One who allegedly created the heavens and the earth (as the master worker) NOT know the day or the hour, he also told his followers that the end was coming within their generation. He mentions the Sabbath, so the Bible worshipers explain that he was talking about the JEWS and the Jewish system, but then can't explain why he speaks of a cataclysm that would be unprecedented in history, would include the whole earth because he compares it to Noah's flood, and would never occur again. His apostles carry on this disinformation after he is crucified, saying that some will live to see the end. Then, in the opening statement of the Revelation, "Jesus" says he is "coming quickly".

It begs the question, why do so many die-hards continue to defend this evil, fear-mongering book of false prophecies, when it is clearly like trying to bail out of the Titanic with a shot glass?

Jesus had no financial interest in the Bible.

Is the op saying Jesus wasn't refering to Armageddon in his prophecy? because Jesus's enthronement (gaining kingly power) and Armageddon are two different events clearly not meant to be confused with each other. One definitely happens before the other?

NWT hebrew 10: 12 But this [man] offered one sacrifice for sins perpetually and sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from then on awaiting until his enemies should be placed as a stool for his feet.

then on awaiting until his enemies should be placed as a stool for his feet.

What all this stuff about the footstool? Isn't there a scripture that the whole earth is supposed to be ja's footstool.
