Last summer, my 14 year old (now 15) grandson walked from Orlando Fl to Washington DC to call attention to the plight of homeless children. There are well over a million of them in the United States. He stopped at shelters along the way to talk to these children and share their stories. He raised money for the shelters, but more than that he focused on getting people to get involved at the local level... to volunteer at the shelters, or donate needed supplies. Wherever you live in this country, there are shelters that need assistance... He continues to volunteer at the local coallition for the homeless...
