For anyone considering 'fractions of fornication, you need to carry this with you at all times in case of emergencies:

May I have permision to print it and carry it with me.

Likewise lying to those who don't deserve the truth--theocratic warfare--comes
from the same thing. Just don't lie directly about the whole thing you were
asked about. I think it started with Russell when his wife asked about the girl
he was seeing. "Can't you tell that girl to stop flirting with you?" "You bet,
honey--I'm going right over there and carve that woman a new pew."

Professor F.F Bruce in his commentary on the book of Acts quotes a number of other noted scholars as saying :

" the decree was exclusively a food-law, prohibiting the eating of meat which had been sacrificed to pagan divinities and meat from which the blood had not been completely drained"

This decree was made in the context of how close to the practise of 1st century Jews should new Gentile Christians get so as not to offend those 1st century Jewish Christians. (Who were still practising Jews, going to the Temple etc.)

It was by Holy Spirit ,Luke tells us, that it was decided it was not necessary for these new Christians to follow every little bit of Jewish Law, it was simply asked of them to live a lifestyle that was not offensive to some of their brothers, who had grown up influenced by the School of Shammai thinking that every jot and tittle of the Law be obeyed. Even what they asked of the Church in Antioch, James recognized as a burden, but they wanted to get away from the old reliance on the law as a way to salvation, The Way was the Christ..

And what do JW's do in modern times? start a modern rabbinical school that nit-picks and insists the decree be taken as Law for Christians today, even in areas which were not in its purview.

It has nothing to do with the medical use of blood, or of using blood to SAVE a life.

It hardly has any great import for Christians today, apart from the principle of not offending new converts.

Yes and yes! Although it's always best to get two non-family members to witness and sign for you. If you are ever in an emergency situation where 'worldly' people are trying to force you to commit fornication, we have a hot-line set up where you can reach someone from the Fornication Liaison Committee. They will rush to your side to ensure that you do not cave and commit acts of pornia that are clearly against bible principals.

They can be reached at: 1-800-NO-PORNIA

Let us give thanks to Jehovah for making this service provided for His faithful followers.

    What does Fornication mean?

The commandments of God and Jesus were to NOT commite adultery, no mention of "sex" when NOT married.

Fornication was applied, in the vast majority of times, to illict sex or sex with a "professional" ( to be nice).

    porneia:

    1) illicit sexual intercourse

    a) adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.

    b) sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18

    c) sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11,12

    2) metaph. the worship of idols

    a) of the defilement of idolatry, as incurred by eating the sacrifices offered to idols
