Yea, that's kind of why it was more than a passing moment of mild excitement. I actually took a minute to stop what I was doing and pay attention to see if anything more was going to happen.
While I was waiting I was also thinking of this hysterically funny audio recording from a few years ago when a tremor shook LA while the city council was in session. You can hear shaking and rattling sounds and a few gasps and exclamations, and then this one councilman with a really annoying voice starts yelling "... and there goes the earthquake! ...Earthquake! ...Earthquake! ...Earthquake!" I mean, as if anyone there needed him to narrate what was happening.
It's sad to think one day I might spend my final moments with this guy's voice in my head. "There goes the earthquake" ... what a bizarre thing to say.
