JWoods - you're ongoing dedication to confusing anecdotes with science is truly impressive.

Thank you very much. But those traffic-jammed Chinese trucks and busses were not carbon-free, and I suspect that they will still not be so in 2050. The implications for global reduction of CO2 should be obvious.

read this article in the NY Times and tell me you think China is not leading renewable energy production:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/31/business/energy-environment/31renew.html

the thing to remember with China is that its a dictatorship

they can get things done quicker than anyone else.

    and for the facts:

Please don't attempt to suggest we delay action on climate change because of a traffic jam in China.

China is building massive infrastructure up from scratch besty. By the way, many of those greentechs being manufactured are of American design. The #3 and #9 wind turbine mfgs in the world Sinovec and Dongfeng, for example, are building their wind turbine fabs using American designs, American supply chain management, and American plant design.

Yes, when dictators get it right, it is stunningly good.

When they get it wrong, it is apocalyptic. Traffic jams, anyone?

    Geez. Besty. From your article:

President Obama is calling for American industry to step up.

Step up and what? Get taxed and regulated out of competition? Lose billions?

If I recall correctly BTS - you havent stated a clear position on climate change. You like the fence.

Cognitive dissonance from making money in alternative energy clashing with your ideology?

Still no sign of the self-styled "Megadude" with an apology.

If this assertion is true, it is VERY disturbing

    http://www.orthodoxytoday.org/blog/2010/08/17/official-satellite-failure-means-decade-of-global-warming-data-doubtful/

I continue to accept Freeman Dyson's simple interviews in Greenland about thawing. However, responding to such is quite speculative, in my opinion. Wind and solar are ineffective and waste vital capital without effective storage. We need major improvement of batteries.

An uncounted cost of renewable energy is the increased need for fossil fuel generation backup. The wind stops and a nat gas turbine kicks on. This problem needs to be fixed.

For transportation, we need massive biofuel infrastructure - or much better batteries.

As to fossil fuel company influence, i would counter that nuclear power advocates love global warming threats, so the lobbyist/commercial bribe argument may not hold up.

Looks like Besty's resurrection of an old thread has received a chilly reception.
