The only recent references on the CD (1996,97) mention a Witness being allowed to present their message at a rotary meeting and that a rotary club member was willing to distribute an article entitled " Removing Misconceptions About Jehovah’s Witnesses"

I went to a few while I was an elder, being a businessman and all. The only thing they did was salute the flag but it's not a prerequisite to join.

I don't see any big issue; I'm sure the WTS would speak against the "association" and the "time" spent ah wasted and that if you wanted to strengthen the community, the "preaching" work would be better. But no politics or religious tone seems to be associated with it.

In this area, a current member has to suggest you as a member and the yearly dues are around $900. I guess it's not just for the curious. BTW I noticed that the jw in that 90's article went to the club and gave a speech.

SAMPLE NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION contributed by PDG Ed Paparella
A New Member Orientation gives the Club an opportunity to review brief Rotary
history or some highlights of the Club, District or The Rotary Foundation/Rotary
International. Using the current information in the monthly Rotary Magazine outlining
    - Rotary at a Glance, is always a good time to share the size & breath of Rotary
Worldwide. The information shared can be tailored to a Club’s particular
    circumstances.
The New Member sponsor has a role in the induction ceremony of introducing the
New Member to the assembly sharing some personal / professional background. It is
wise to obtain permission from the New Member to share this information.
Following the review of the Rotary highlights and introduction it is suggested the
following Pledge be administered by the person(s) performing the induction:
    The Rotary Pledge
With the acceptance of my role as a Rotarian, I pledge to, Open Doors To Peace,
Goodwill & Equality For All People.
    I Pledge:
~ Not to be just a passive member, but to be part of rotary’s driving force.
~ To make Rotary participation and attendance a joy and openly encourage the same
    of all members.
~ To serve my Club in any capacity in which I am asked to serve.
~ To recognize my community as my particular plot of ground given to me to till, not
only for my security, but for all people.
~ To be an ambassador form my vocation, to my Club, my community and society, in
support of my affiliation with rotary.
~ To be proud to associate with people of all cultures, creeds, and races, knowing
with deep conviction that International Understanding is the fruit of International
    Peace.

~ To put Rotary to work where I work.
~ To live Rotary where I live.
~ To make every effort of body, mind and spirit not to be just a member, but to be a
    Rotarian.

___________________, do you accept the role of a Rotarian?
    Please respond - I Do.
I present to all gathered here, _______________, the newest member of the
    _____________ Rotary Club.

I imagine the highlighted areas would be enough to DF someone. Nasty Rotarians! Helping eradicate polio. What nerve!

So, Ninja, I'm guessing by a quick look at their website and the photos you posted that the Rotarians have been pretty supportive of governments all over the world. Do you have any info showing that they were particularly anti-Semitic or were they just going along to get along?

om, of the, completely ignorant of Rotarian History, class

If you want to join, do it. Dare them to say something about it.

I really like being part of the Rotary. It is a way to meet community leaders in a low pressure setting. We salute the flag, have a convocation before lunch, sponsor an annual holiday tree lighting, sponsor a Memorial Day parade and have an annual holiday party. I'm guessing an active JW would have a problem with this stuff!!!

Most of all JW's dont like Rotary because of our 4 way test- recited at the beginning of each meeting: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

JWs fail on all 4 counts!

I really ragged on a JW sister last month about being a "social parasite"- I went down the list asking her if she would be a part of the , PTO at school- nope, donate blood-nope, help out in a community improvement project- nope, vote- nope, join a civic club, like Kiwanis-nope, work in a food pantry-nope, ask the KH to sponsor a food drive for a food pantry- nope. After I was done with her she was hanging her head when she got into her car with sister righteous who had her nose up in the air and they left the neighborhood- " see, I was right, you guys are all take from the community and you don't give anything back- PARASITES!"

    Community parasites says it well.

But like it was mentioned already , the WTS. only wants THEIR flock to support THEIR organization only, by financial contributions or the buying and selling of the WTS. bullshit contrived literature.

Truly self consuming maggots for their own good.
