The Watchtower has said over and over that they are not inspired (even though their earlier publications claimed that they were modern-day prophets), so where exactly does "New Light" come from? If they are not inspired by God, why should anyone listen to them?

Its the 'Aha' moment most people experience with ideas and connections, just in the hands of ultra religious people it gets routed thru God to give those ideas the extra octane needed for their cause.

where exactly does "New Light" come from?
Ok, "New Light" for me usually comes in the form of new lightbulbs from the hardware store. As for JWs, I guess the GB has a magic 8 ball? Or maybe it comes from a case of the 'vapours'?
I feel this is a question that the GB should answer. Because if they aren't inspired as they say, then your last statement 'why should anyone listen to them?' can only be answered.... "We should not."
Years ago, I asked both my parents at the same time, "Is the WTS directed by God?" They both answered in unison... my father said "No." and my mother said "Yes." Then they both quickly looked at each other with an Uh-Oh expression on their faces. This was mine... .

They will point to the account where the older men in Jerusalem discussed and prayed and read the scriptures before deciding that Gentiles did not have to be circumcised to becomes Christians. Of course, by a miracle Peter was shown that in a vision and holy spirit fell on Cornelius and his Gentile family before they were baptized.
But then the GB (or other anointed) don't get visions and there is supposedly no visual manifestation of the holy spirit on Christians today. Also notice that in the 1st century their decision was unanimous. The GB today only needs a 2/3 majority to establish a new doctrine.

In effect, they asked, ‘Can the Christian congregation rightly reject those whom God has embraced?’ Then the disciple James read a passage of Scripture that helped all in attendance to discern Jehovah’s will in the matter.—Acts 15:4-17
All eyes were now on the governing body. Would their Jewish heritage slant their decision in favor of circumcision? No. These faithful men were determined to follow the Scriptures and the leadings of God’s holy spirit. After hearing all the pertinent testimony, the governing body unanimously agreed that there was no need for Gentile Christians to get circumcised and come under the Mosaic Law.

Sacolton, you should be ashamed of yourself questioning "God's org" (wow, even in joking I have to put quotes around "God's org"). LOL
New Light- it comes from the GB, in response to the members taking what they consider to omany liberties and they feel the need to tighten the reigns, or perhaps as cost cutting measures, in response to changing laws (such as the voluntary donations for lit), or to fend off impending false prophecies (1914 generation change in 95).

It was this very point that started my investigations of the WT and my realisation that it was all BULLS**T !
They claimed in the Rev Climax book that the 24 Elders were communicating stuff to earth !!!!! In other words the GB were communing with spirits of the dead,something condemned in the Bible.
If a Witness says that it is the same process as Blondie mentioned,prayer and Bible study,then yours and my opinions formed after prayer and Bible study are just as valid as those of the GB !
