I did the same...I went to great lengths to keep people knowing I had anything to do with beinge a JW. I avoided the other JW kids, not wanting to be associated with their weirdness, but at the same time I didn't fit in with everyone else. I pretended to be normal, but I wasn't.
I can relate to the character William Miller in the movie Almost Famous who confided to his mentor Lester Bangs, "Even when I thought I was cool, I knew I wasn't"
