    yuk.

This one was barn red when we bot it five years ago. Started painting it last fall, only to discover that barn red is hard to cover, [duh, Jeff]. Never got it done. It has been half red [2 sides] and half yellow [2 sides]. This week I began to prime the back and paint.

My granddaughter this morning looked at it and said 'Grandpa- the house looks like a sandwich!' I said 'huh?' She said 'Yeah - ketchup, mustard and mayo....' Funny kid that one! It does look a sandwich though now that she mentioned it. That's about to change - I would have had the third side nearly done today, except that my wife bought 'yellow tulip' instead of 'mellow tulip' - well, or some mix up like that, and I had to recover a third of the side once it dried and was obviously not the same color.

I guess I could have just painted the ends 'Wiener' and called the house 'The hot dog!' - sorry bad joke.

Out I go with brush and roller for some more fun.

I hope it looks like a house when it's done.

Good luck on the barn. I've never done outdoor painting so I can imagine the challenge you are facing. I'm sure it will look great. Fresh paint always looks good.

I'm repainting the whole inside of the house. I love the smell.

    Also doing it in yellow.

Some colors, like dark blue red and black are hard to cover, Yellow doesn't cover worth @#$%. So, you end up doing 3 or 4 coats. It helps to get the finishing formula added to the primer. Generally, they only do 3 quarters of the fomrula. But, it helps. Also, oil base primer generally has more body than does latex.

And all the neighbors are driving by saying "now what the hell is he doing to his house."

Yep - the paint/primer combo is prob a good plan. I don't know if anyone in our town carries that brand [or can match it to the color I already put on the other two sides], so I added yellow to the primer and got something pretty close - that way I can prime it close to the color I will finish it with.

The primer is all on now on the back of the house - hopefully the weather holds off and I am able to get the back done tomorrow. Then one side left to go.
