More Church of Scientology Defectors Come Forward with Accounts of Abuse

They are stepping forward — from Dallas and Denver, Portland, Las Vegas, Montana — talking about what happened, to them and their friends, during their years in the Church of Scientology.
Jackie Wolff wept as she recalled the chaotic night she was ordered to stand at a microphone in the mess hall and confess her "crimes" in front of 300 fellow workers, many jeering and heckling her.
Gary Morehead dredged up his recollection of Scientology leader David Miscavige punishing venerable church leaders by forcing them to live out of tents for days, wash with a garden hose and use an open latrine.
Steve Hall replayed his memory of a meeting when Miscavige grabbed the heads of two church executives and knocked them together. One came away with a bloody ear.
Mark Fisher remembered precisely what he told Miscavige after the punches stopped and Fisher touched his head, looked at his palm and saw blood.

These and other former Scientology staffers are talking now, inspired and emboldened by the raw revelations of four defectors from the church's executive ranks who broke years of silence in stories published recently by the St. Petersburg Times.
Those behind-the-scenes accounts from Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder, the highest officials ever to leave Scientology, were buttressed by detailed revelations of highly placed former managers Amy Scobee and Tom De Vocht.
Now their stories have prompted other former Scientology veterans to go public about physical and mental abuses they say they witnessed and endured.

Abuse is abuse. The problem with the WTS is.... you can't see the physical scars. A judge once said that emotional and psychological abuse was worse than physical abuse because of this. The unseen damage takes longer to heal... if ever.

My very first Bible Study was a "minister" in Scientology. He left the Scientologists to become a Jehovah's Witness. I was so proud of him. Now, I am an ex-JW, and trying to help him leave the JWs ... its a long 38 year journey. Thankfully, his wife is already out of the JWs, and is on her journey to unload the JW baggage.

I watched on TV news that actor John Travolta is considering leaving Scientology. He has spoken about it publicly, but he also fears the retaliation from the Scientologists if he does leave. Here is one story: http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/people/john-travolta-to-leave-scientology-20090728-dzi7.html

LEAVING WT- Good thread. Bingo. So this is what it may take in time to get the " information control" web of the WT society to be brought down. Thanks for posting this. If several upper executive leaders of the WT society went public all at the same time about injustices going on inside Bethel or the organization and revealed it to major news media outlets - perhaps it may encourage other defectors. But it would have to be something big, huge. Like thousands of children being molested perhaps ? Money from contributions being syphoned off to off shore bank accounts with no accounting ?? An upper level WT executive ratting out dishonest fellow WT executives to the law and news media ?? Not too far fetched seeing this Scientology experience here. WT employees are good at ratting each other out. Hell- Let them turn on each other - we may not HAVE to bring them down at all

David Miscavige must have coped abuse as a young member and is now doing the same as revenge.

The JW cult is as bad with psychological abuse as the Scientologists are with physical abuse. And if you count the untold number of child and spousal abuse going on unchecked in the Jehovah's Witnesses you could very well add physical abuse to the psychological inside the witnesses as well

Surely the Great ScientoloGod will clear up this entire misunderstanding and smite the Scientolapostates.

Finally had time to read the entire artcle . Wow . Everybody do yourself a favor and read this link. It makes me even more determined to help people exit mind control cults. The abuse of people's psyche , physical health, and emotional health is disgusting and horrific. The same thing that's similar is the Scientologists leaders trying to hush and discredit the stories coming out- just as the leaders of Jehovah's Witnesses do a well. Everybody you know needs to hear about this
