These days if it had to be a "CD" it would be an MP3-playable CD disc with 150 songs on it of my choosing. Of course, I would prefer to have my iPod or a DVD-ROM (with a thousand songs) with me.

David Bowie frequently raised this question and answered it, usually wanting to give props to some legendary blues or soul artist. On occasion, he would mention, Buddy Guy. I could live with that.
My personal preference would be any one of 10 Dylan albums. I usually listen to those for a year or two, then again.
