    Rob,

she concluded was that science can't prove or disprove the existence of God.

But the evidence is that God is only in your head, or imaginary isn't that what all the available evidence point if one is not biased by religious indoctrination. That being the case I would make my imaginary God a good one that loves me and everyone else as well working for the common good of everything,, make him enlightening and far greater than the biblical control freak type of god. Now that's a god my mind can believe in,, not forced belief in, but more like a gentle nudging type of god pushing me towards benevolence.

    Rob,

Critics in the scientific community argue that Hamer's conclusions are simplistic and speculative, relying too much on anecdotal evidence and too little on testing of the VMAT2 gene to determine other possible connections to behavior. They also wonder whether his findings can be replicated, a necessity in scientific research.
"The field of behavioral genetics is littered with failed links between particular genes and personality traits," said Carl Zimmer, a science author who reviewed the book in last month's Scientific American.

I think the critics may be right. His speculations need testing.

Speaking from my own experience, as a jw, i believed in biblegod, and sought him. This continued afterwards, during the time that i was a christian. It was never based on any experience, whatsoever. It was purely based on what i was told to believe. Towards the end of that era, i became more confident and earnestly sought the biblegod directly, through a form of meditation. He was nowhere to be found. I did, however, experience the traditional eastern phenomanon that this "the light".

As you say, this was all in my head. For me, there was never ANY divine experience from outside of my head. However, to me, to this day, this is/was a real experience. It was as if a part of me reached out to wherever this light is, to taste it, so to speak.. Some knowledge/belief, i took instantly from the nature of the light. Other knowledge/belief i gradually came to, as i thought about the experience during the months, following.
