It's almost embarrassing to have "met" my grandparents for the first time in a long time this past week. So many relatives for me that were considered "unacceptable" for me to visit.
I'm grateful that so many of them could overlook the years lost to a cult. People have been too kind.

I try and focus on my own immediate family (ie. Angharad and the kids) and make sure we are happy - we don't really need anyone else beyond that. I get very emotional if I think on things like this but I'm starting to realise that I feel a hell of a lot better for not seeing my mum - she only ever seems to bring me grief after all.
The kids are having a great time (they were very excited when the cakes we'd left out for Santa had been eaten so we knew he'd been ) and I've got some great video of them seeing all their presents and opening them (lot's of "wow!" and "yes!").
It has been really fantastic getting cards and thoughts from people on the forum, it really has meant a great deal to us and made it really special - I know Angharad is really enjoying it. Thank you

I'm so happy to hear that you spent some time with your Gran during the Christmas season. And your daughter singing a song was so touching.
Larc and I made efforts to get close to his Grandma Lucy, after we left the religion - so glad we did, as we have many truly wonderful memories of her now.
She was a grand lady, and probably like your Gran, was rather ignored for too many years. She was a stoic woman, and took it all well, but I remember seeing tears in her eyes, when she received her first ever birthday present from Larc and I, when she, too, was in her 80's. So, good for you, dear ISP, I'm certain you made her very happy. And, Merry Christmas to you all!
