How to raise awareness about child abuse.

Here's an idea. We know the WTBTS fears exposure more than anything. So what if we made an organized, concerted effort to contact every celebrity JW that we can think of?

I can think of about 25-30 ex-dub celebs. These people are on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, ect. They are often involved in charity and other humanitarian efforts. They also know lots and lots of other celebrities. Can you imagine if the gorgeous Michelle Rodriguez spoke out on TV? What if Luke Evans was on the Jimmy Fallon show and said, " I'm heading up a new charity for children of Jehovahs Witnesses that have been abused by church officials..."!! Can you imagine that!!

    What do you think??

Are ex-dub celebrities shunned, discredited and separated from their families like everyone else or are they given a free pass because they are wealthy, famous and highly visible?

Brilliant idea, by the way, Data Dog.

I don't use socialmedia, twitter etc..

But I have a suggestion for anyone who wants to try to contact any ex jw celebrities:

Don't ask them to do anything, or send them lengthy articles to read.

Just post up a link of these videos (pbs and nightline) on their pages, or however it works i have no idea, then ask them what they think, 'because you heard/read somewhere they used to be a Jehovahs'. Then you sound like just an interested fan who is concerned, rather than someone trying to get them to publicly speak out against Watchtower policies.

If anyone has the nerve to try this idea, please can you let us all know if there is a response, or even if you're just going to give it a go.

One way or another, they are going to react when they see these videos, whether it is publically, or privately.

And with all those followers, who knows how many the videos might reach??

Hi DATA-DOG, I like the idea! I just wonder how many ex-JWs celebrities want to forget about being a JW. It seems that the WTBTS's mind manipulation adversely manipulates ex-JWs long after they leave the WTBTS.

I would like to get ordinary ex-JWs just to support political change. I have not been very successful at getting large enough numbers of ex-JWs/non-JWs to become involved to influence politicians to support a bill that I wrote about in the thread Revise Tax Code to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse. The bill would not infringe on an individual's Constitutional rights, but would protect children from sexual abuse as well as prevent non-profit organizations from using or promoting undue influence to its members.

It seems that protecting children from sexual abuse is not as interesting as what Kim Kardasian is doing.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

Great point DOT. Don't spam them with lengthy and crazy stuff. Just say, " Hello Luke. I loved your portrayal of Bard in the Hobbit! I was impressed by the fact that you were raised a JW. I was too. Do you have any suggestions for raising awareness about child sexual abuse within the WTBTS??"

    Something like that....and some links.

D.D I think this is the best idea you have come up with, and you've had a few good ones !

For some insane reason, Celebrities have more Kudos than experts with the public.

I look forward to helping with this at the U.k end.
