In the ble book "Life - how did it get here? By Evolution or by creation?" on page 203 you can see a picture of a mamooth with a note: Frozen mamooth found in Siberia ... still had grass in his mouth and in his stomach .... was frozen immediately ...."

It is presented as a proof of a world wide flood. But it raises a question:

Were there really Mamooths in the time f Noah? Do we have any proof of that?

If there were Mamooths in Noahs time, why he didnt take them to the Ark? They should be saved in Ark for our day....

And actually why should they freeze instantly during flood? If they were hit by heavy rain, they should be wet, drowned, rotten .... byt why instantly frozen?

What answer do you think you might get from JWs?

About the mammoth being frozen--they would tell you that the earth was evenly warm and tropical before the flood, because of the water canopy that surrounded the earth. They would also say that is where all the rain came from.

After the rain fell the climates changed--I guess drastically! This is what I remember anyway!

I have wondered why there were no mammoths on the ark, too.

even as a kid this always bothered me.

Also, Mammoths were covered in thick fur to keep out extreme cold.

The wts teaches that all the earth was a hot house, needing dinosaurs to keep the jungle down, the fozen poles only happening after the "water canopy" became the oceans.

You can't have it both ways...well, with the wts I guess they try.

Well, "Live - how dit it get here?" is a treasuretrove of pseudoscience and flat out lies: "Look, frozen mammoths! Thats Weird! This prooves the flood!".

Whats even more interesting is that its also flat out 100% wrong. check out these links:

Most of the arguments in the book is lifted from creationist litterature, or from creationist litterature through crackpots. One of my all time favorites: It gets the definition of evolution wrong. Thats right - a book on evolution where they dont even get the definition right! (they confuse the theory of biological evolution with the theory of abiogenesis).

Yeah-why did they have fur if the earth was tropical? Never thought about that. There are quite a few other furry animals, too!

Sorry, i wrote "arguments" in my previous post, that should be "pseudoscience, lies, misquotations, bad logic, wishfull thinking and gibberish". I would very much recommend this page written by a former jehovas witness to the governing body regarding his research in the book, and the kind of misquotations he found:

If anyone is interested for a refutation of some of the claims in the book, se here: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/jw-book.html or here : http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/

Why were mammoths wooley if they didn't live in a cold climate? They also had larger hearts than modern elephants, which would be expected with a cold climate (so that more blood could be pumped to maintain body temperature). They also had much, much smaller ears than modern elephants, which would be expected with a cold climate (with less heat being lost from the extremities). They had a layer of fat three inches thick underneath the skin which functioned similar to blubber. Their curved tusks, which pointed inward, may have allowed mammoths to use their tusks in a manner similar to snow shovels to clear snow.

Also, mammoths continued to live until about 1700 BC (carbon dating) at Wrangel Island in the Arctic Ocean...miniaturized in response to the island environment.

    Ha ha.

We have here a random scattering of exJWs that don't even study evolution that know more that the authors of the WTBTS's illustrious book about evolution!! You guys are great!

    WT can suck it.
