A fire that destroyed a Kingdom Hall in Mesa, Arizona was possibly arson.

"Fire that destroyed Mesa church called 'suspicious' "

I heard about it but didn't know the KH was destroyed. They'll replace it in a few months.

Thursday's fire was the latest of many that have struck Valley places of worship in recent years, and Craig Ahlstrom well knows the feeling.

As Witnesses surveyed the ruins on Friday morning, Ahlstrom drove up to offer condolences and help.

His own church building, housing the Lehi Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was destroyed by a suspicious fire in November 2007. Ahlstrom is president of the congregation.

Interesting, would a Witness do that for any other church that burned down?

That's horrible news. Many if not all feel like a KH is a second home. There is a psychological bond that JWs make with their KH. I can imagine the tears. I really feel for them.

As much as many of us (self included) cannot stand the religion of the Watchtower, I cringe when I hear about a Kingdom Hall or any other religious place being burned down or otherwise vandalized. I am genuinely glad no one was hurt, JW or otherwise.

Freedom of worship, even if we disagree with the doctrine of the individual religion (or cult), is a foundation of this country. I still believe the JWs are a cult. Other than coming here and talking to ex-JWs, I am trying to just ignore the active JWs as much as possible.

I don't pray anymore...but if I did, I would pray for the dubs to wake up and see the real "light".....and especially for those hurt to have their hearts and minds healed because of all of the abuse (physical, mental, sexual, emotional) they suffered while a JW.

    Quote from the article:

DeHoyos said firefighters were able to save important records from the building.

yeah, all of those important JC records and confidential files of pedophiles... and all of that important field circus tallies. ...

I have an idea that works much better than burning chruches and Kingdumb Hells. When people burn one of those structures, all it does is creates a rally for more donations. Between that and the insurance, they usually get the money to rebuild in short order. The congregations are usually brought together by such a crisis, which is usually the opposite of what the arsonists intend.

However, if you expose the core doctrines as a complete scam, people will view attending church as a waste of a Sunday morning. Once that happens, the collection plate will be empty. If you prevent $5,000 from going on that collection plate by emptying the church (by making them see it as wasted time), you do as much financial damage as a fire would have. Plus, instead of drawing together, such congregations usually fizzle, and soon the church goes belly up. And, the fire department is not called in. Nor is any nearby property threatened, nor are people going to risk getting hurt.
