Tax cuts for the top 1-5% is the same thing Burn. Charity to the wealthy. We won't even discuss subsidies for oil companies and the like.

Actually, I was thinking about the mortgage interest tax deduction today. That is a subsidy for banks. We pay to the banks, the government takes it off of our taxes. How is that not corporate welfare??

Aaah my dearest Burn, there is always a way to deny the uncivilized behavior of the right, isn't there?

    Not necessarily.

    Charity to the wealthy.

Charity is when you give, not withhold taking away.

As I have said, I don't support subsidies.

My understanding is that the measure was intended as an encouragement for home ownership. It was introduced in 1913 along with income taxes and the Federal Reserve while Woodrow Wilson (D) was president.

Tax policy favors home lending. There are two sides to that transaction.

Just a thought man, as a new home owner with a half million dollar mortgage, I'm not necessarily bucking for change. But it does benefit the wealthy and the banks most, does it not?
