I believe that one of the most basic of all rules, the fundamental base of the WTBTS that calls itself a religion, is human sacrifice. You are to forgo your own life and that of your family on direction of the WTS and should you object, you will be cast out. You are to be obedient in all things.
That line of thinking is no different than the village leaders of old who demanded a child be sacrificed for their God. It was considered an honor so if your child was chosen, you would not object and if you did, you would simply be tossed off the top of a 130 foot cliff. You were to be obedient in all things.
This can be done and is done every day in the society when adherents to the WT are taught to replace their blood family with the organization. That is why a parent will allow their child to die, that is why a parent will not get medical treatment that a doctor recommends and that will give them a 90% chance of life, that is why there is no loyalty to blood family that allows shunning to be so effective. The society has replaced reason with blind faith and trust. They have managed to twist what is the basic and fundamental unit of family structure and replace it with an organization. That organization comes first so all the fluff they like to write in their magazines about family is nothing more than that - fluff. Something to make a witness think he is normal when in fact all of the underlying verbage and direction, is anything but.
