Speaking of a green handshake. We had an Elder in our congregation who was a married pioneer. He and his wife lived in a very small basement apartment. Only one room and with a bathroom. He didn’t have a steady job, worked odd jobs. His wife was unhappy with their living conditions. He was always looking for a free meal. During a meeting there was a part about the upcoming CO’s visit on how we can support his weeks activities. This pioneer elder raises his hand and says that the CO doesn’t receive much from the Society so he likes to give him a few bucks when he comes. I don’t know how we all held a straight face.

"Did U Notice Anything Different When The Circuit Overseer Was About 2 Visit..............Dam straight I did!!..When I was a Kid,there was never any food in the house..Not because we were poor..But..Because my mom was too lazy to buy any food,or cook it if we did!!.....The C/O always stayed at our house..Miraculously there would be more food than a starving kid could imagine..LOL!!.....Pancakes,eggs,bacon,orange juice,toast,oatmeal,coffee..ect for breakfast..Lunch and Dinner were huge meals also..Then the C/O would leave and so would the food..LOL!!..

The 2 weeks preceding the CO's visit was all about the elders making sure the correct impression was in place. Any issues that could be worked with before he came were suddenly dealt with. And that includes judicial and serious matters. Suddenly, timing was important to clean up any loose ends. That's why they will always need someone in authority checking up on the elders to see to it that they are motivated to be on the right path.

We had an ex-marine elder who treated the CO visit like an inspection. The hall was cleaned. We even plugged in the hot water heater so the bathrooms had hot water.
