Fire set to Old Mill from Gone With the Wind

  The Old Mill, one of my favorite places to go and take pics was set fire to last night. Since most of it is stone, there is not any real lasting damage, although the roof is gone.

  I doubt they will find who did this, what a senseless thing to do. I have been going to the Old Mill since I was about 15, living a few blocks from it years ago. It has a special place in my heart and hate to see it vandalized.

  North Little Rock - Authorities say a fire has damaged the roof of North Little Rock's historic Old Mill.
  
  The cause of the fire, which broke out at about 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, has not yet been determined. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes of arrival.
  
  Neighbors told police that shortly before the fire began, they saw two men pull up to the mill in a dark-colored BMW, go inside the mill and then leave.

  Dang it purps..so sorry....i dont remember that from the movie so now will have to watch it for the eighth time!....but i live two miles from the oldest active mill in the usa...me thinks..it is awesome....greensboro or oak ridge north carolina......great fat size grits.................oompa..

  but Maybree Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway is my favorite of all.....

  Here is an old pic of the Old Mill, the lake is still there with houses built on either side. It is completely in a residential area now. The part I lived in, part is an Historical Marker.

  In the movie, the opening scene all you will see is the rock building, nothing else was built around it at that time.

  my old house, looks worse than any house in the area, this is a recent pic, very rundown since my parents sold it. I actually think

  this house is older than the mill. You can walk to the Mill from this house, a bit of a walk, I got married in that house!!!

  Purps, awww, that brings back memories! I was watching GWTW when I conceived my son and watched it again while I was giving birth to my son. Thus I named him Ashley.

  He hates me for it. Won't watch the movie. He says I must have been on crack to name him that, LOL! But it fits him.

  I really enjoyed my trip to the old mill last year with you and RF...I hope they restore the damage...it would be sad to lose such an interesting site.
