I see the point that men or women, suffering from sexual repression (frequently caused by religion), are more likely to commit a crime like this.

Victims in high control religious groups are more likely to seek guidance from their leader than from the police.

True, but more often it is the men doing it. Or, at least they are the ones getting caught. However, molestation does not necessary have to be the result of a repressive religion. There are also men who have not had any religious upbringing that are molesters. Women too. But not as many.

I don't know what happened to you Robdar, but men are not mostly evil. And I don't appreciate you putting me in the same category as those animals.

There was a TV program on not too long ago about men that got caught trying to hustle prostitutes and what kind of rehabilitation

programs that these men had to go through as part of their penalty.

One program in New York was being viewed and I thought it was surprisingly humorous that a third of the men there in the class were Hasidic Jews

Actually child sexual abuse is about power not sex. These people are not lacking a sexual outlet in their life. Most (3/4) are married. It is a case of institutional abuse.

I have long thought that the sole reason many, if not most religions have belatedly introduced stricter responses to "in-house"c hild-sex abuse is due to the growing impact of secular legislation against abusers and laws promoting the rights of children. One of the biggest indictments against Biblical religions (Jewish, Islamic and Christian) is their failure to be at the forefront of child rights, so busily have they been promoting their own versions of the "truth". In that regard, all religions are the same: Self-promotion first; child rights second.

If churches/religions, large and small, could have had their way, they would have continued to handle sexual abuse within the church/religion itself, rather than have the matters reported to secular authorities.

Man, what ARE you smoking? I did not say men are mostly evil and I did not put you in the same category as the animals. You need a new prescription for your glasses or a strong cuppa coffee to wake you up so you can re-read my posts. Criminey.

Yup. And statistically, molestation in these larger religious groups is lower than, say, the public school system.

Does being a teacher or coach turn someone into a child molester?
