leavingwt: A good way to remember the story with 1925 is remembering the 1921 publication entitled, "Millions Now Living Will Never Die". We now know for absolute certain, that the title of this book was a big fat lie. Moreover, this book says that the world will end in 1925.

The chief thing to be restored is the human race to life; and since other Scriptures definitely fix the fact that there will be a resurrection of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and other faithful ones of old, and that these will have the first favor, we may expect 1925 to witness the return of these faithful men of Israel from the condition of death, being resurrected and fully restored to perfect humanity and made the visible, legal representatives of the new order of things on earth.. They are to be resurrected as perfect men and constitute the princes or rulers in the earth .. Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human perfection.. A simple calculation of these jubilees brings us to this important fact: Seventy jubilees of fifty years each would be a total of 3500 years. That period of time beginning 1575 years before A.D. 1 of necessity would end in the fall of 1925, at which time the type ends and the great anti type must begin. What, then, should we expect to take palace? In the type there must be a full restoration; beginning of restoration of all things.

If Jesus Christ himself went to their door, they would still follow the Watchtower magazine. They are afraid to do anything else. They've worked too hard to earn that everlasting life in Paradise. They can't throw it all away for the sake of some honest-to-God truth! How dare you try to suggest that they're not the only true religion! They are the only ones deserving of God's undeserved kindness, after all.

Have you seen the cover of the "Three Worlds" produced by Barbour and CTR in the 1870s?
CTR believed that the Parousia had taken place in 1874. He was convinced that they were living in the final harvest time which would last for 40 years, ending with the outbreak of peace in 1914, with Zionists playing the dominant role. The 1874 date was still being taught in 1930.
When Russell's predictions failed, the WTS changed offending words in CTR's books, changing expressions such as "before 1914" to read "after 1914". Such things are shown in "Scholastic Dishonesty of the WT" (Buskirk), Duane Magnani's book (can't recall the precise name of the book), and "Seven Thunders of Millennial Dawn" by Shadduck.
