Andy says to tell you that it took JFK something like three times to pass the exam.
An airliner was having engine trouble, and the pilot instructed the cabin crew to have the passengers take their seats and get prepared for an emergency landing.
A few minutes later, the pilot asked the flight attendants if everyone was buckled in and ready.
"All set back here, Captain," came the reply, "except the lawyers are still going around passing out business cards."
I am glad you are making strong efforts to get out there!
Don't sweat the bar. JFK Jr. didn't pass it til a few times at trying. And he had all sorts of money and influence. The California Bar is even tougher!
You will make it!
five, I think, or maybe six. I didn't have the time to study like most who pass on the first try. They have circumstances where they can take the full 3-1/2 months of full time study (1 month for MBEs and 2-1/2 months for essays and performance test). I should have used this entire time... but I didn't. Just didn't have the circumstances.
(For those scratching their heads, how it works is that, in addition to law school, you almost literally have to take another 3-1/2 months of "bar prep" to prepare you to take the Bar. I know, I know... sounds like a rip - law school should prepare you. It does and doesn't. If no one else took the preps, it does. But... seeking every advantage, almost everyone else you're competing against takes the preps. At least, these two. There are about six and average $895 to $4,000 each. You start one part during your last month of school - yes, while still going to school AND while preparing for final exams, and the other the first of the month following graduation and for the next 10 weeks). These particular courses are an additional $4,000 each. Those in my class who passed took both - unfortunately, by the time I graduated, I could only afford one.
Taking the Bar itself costs close to $1,200 (if you sign up on time - another $250 if you don't) including $473 for the Moral Character check, $529 for the actual test, and $119 if you use a laptop - almost everyone does)... plus your hotel costs if you stay at the test site.
We had put out all we could up to that point. Since I've done the one part, I may now be able to take the other part in preparation for next July (and just brush up on the one I've done). We'll see!
Sorry for going on (hush, those who want to say, "like that's new" - I know myself well and I admit I do go on. It's ONE of my flaws and I have several others. But I accept it... and am not too concerned if you can't...)
Peace!

Yeah, I think I will... one day. Just gotta get my mind... and body... back up to it... and quick-like!
Thanks!

I just came across this.
I'm glad to see you're so philosophical about not passing the exam.
You will ... eventually.
I love stories such as yours.
Peace and love from Alabama.
