    Heaven:

I'd hate to be one of the horses that had to pull that puppy.

The same commentary I referenced above had this to say about that (pp.99-100):

How much iron was used in the chariots is an open question. Obviously the chariots were not made entirely of iron, but they could certainly have been reinforced with iron plates or lesser reinforcements. 98

    Footnote 98 says:

For fuller discussion of the evidence see A. R. Millard, "Back to the Iron Bed: Og's or Procrustes'?" Congress Volume, Paris 1992, VTSup 61 (Leiden: Brill, 1995): 194-95. It is unlikely the ironwork consisted of scythed wheels. Drews ("'Chariots of Iron,'" 15-23) prefers iron rims as tires.

The footnote interested me because the NWT at Judges 1:19 renders it as, "war chariots with iron scythes." But the Reference Bible footnote has the literal rendering, "war chariots of iron."

I wonder what basis there was for the "iron scythe" rendering?
