Crotchety old women.
Desparate single young women.
Dirty middle-aged/old men.
Fed up women not meeting for fs but going it alone to studies and d2d because of in-fighting of sisters, of which brothers have no clue until the catfights happen in khall parking lots.
Bratty children stuck in cars for long stretches of time babysat by poor teens stuck in the car while parents are at the doors and invited in for an hour or two.
Personality disorders?
Nah.

There were, of course, many types...back in the 60s, I mean.
Young guys hoping to luck into a 4D draft classification.
Young girls who wanted to ride around with above young guys.
Neither gave much of a flying flip about pioneering per se, INHO. However - another class:
Older single ladies who devoted their lives to be "ultra-pioneers" - they wanted to be more holy than the elders themselves. Bossy enough to tell off a C.O. or their wives.
Special pioneer couples who were desperately hoping to get the nod as a C.O. couple someday. Many already had the travel trailer - ready to go!
These latter classes were obsessive-compulsive, almost to a person, in my experience. They were not unlike those "dog or cat ladies" that end up collecting a houseful of about 100 stray animals out of a twisted desire to "help the animals". Helping them live in total squalor, wallowing about in their own waste, often unfed, but they were "helping".
You can see them almost every week on "Animal Cops Houston" on the Animal Channel. This is the personality profile of almost every lifetime career pioneer person I ever knew in the JW organization.

any takers? Well, I hadn't thought about but I guess I'll have two anal retentives, a repressed homosexual and throw in a oedipus (sp?) complex and an obsessive compulsive with a nose picking primary focus.

Regular Pioneers cannot be broad-brushed anymore than the overall membership of Jehovah's Witnesses can. I was a Regular Pioneer, and I can say that the personalities and emotional make-ups of the Pioneers I knew were as varied as the members of the congregation. In fact, I found it peculiar that many of my Pioneer friends were actually more liberal, tolerant, and easy going than many of the rank and file members. There are no unique personality disorders among pioneers that would not be found anywhere else.

Actually, I don't think any of us (or very few) are qualified mental health professionals and qualified to make a judgment.

Probably we would not be able to attempt to cure someone, but I reserve the right to say so when I see somebody acting crazy. We had two regular pioneer 50-somethings (of the died-in-the-wool type) get into a literal fight...pulling hair, swinging purses, etc. over a little old lady that each wanted to claim as their "bible study & magazine dropoff". I know of another special pioneer couple who went into a funk and abandoned their post because they were told by the DO that they were not and never would be on the short list for a circuit. Like another poster said though - most of the younger ones I knew were just going along with the social pressures of the crowd. They eventually got married, got jobs, and got on with having kids.

White Dove,
I know what you mean about in-fighting of sisters that brothers have no clue about until there is an explosion in the KH parking lot. It may sound mean but I ended up doing something similar. I can't give too many details but I will say it was to somebody who deserved to be told off because of nervy, outrageous behavior. Of course, she never showed her true colors to the brothers.
In other instances, some so-called sisters are really mean and I avoid them because I would lose my not-so-great christian patience. They have serious issues, especially when they get a little older and they are single. They could be divorced, not just a never-married woman. They verbally abuse and behave in an arrogant, rude fashion to other 'timid' or patient sisters who are stupid enough to put up with them.
