It is possible to not have access to the internet while being online. They may have an Intra-Net where they are part of a Wide Area Network (WAN) Or they might have net access with limited bounds, such as browser settings that do not allow certain sites, or any but the ones the administrator allows....

NY bethel does have an internal intra net...a lot of the bethelites I had talked to say they dont get the WT Library CD because they can get online and access the latest publications (including current WT/awake/KMs) before they hit the CD....

They do have access to the internet though...a friend (well, probably former friend by now)...at Bethel has high speed internet access...dont know if it is mobile or landline...

if it was landline..I wouldnt trust the Borg..they probably have keyloggers set up on every computer in the place...

Last I heard, the www.watchtower.org and www.jw-media.org web sites are hosted on a server outside of the WTS own internal computers. There is no email address on the sites to contact them..only a form : https://watch002.securesites.net/contact/submit.htm I think this is an offsite server possibly in Englewood, Colorado...

Notice these restrictions on communications with the Borg:

London Bethel has internet access - I work for the ISP that supplies it.

But if the not having access to the Internet is an attempt at control, then it is going to be futile and short lived. Mobile Internet access is already with us - you simply buy a device that you plug into your USB port on your laptop and away you go. Unles of course mobiles and mobile devices are banned in Bethel.

AS Eyeslice says, they probably all have 'dongles'!

A MESSAGE TO ANY BETHELITES MONITORING THIS POST.

HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD BY THE LAWYER AT LONDON BETHEL WHAT I TOLD THEM OVER THE PHONE?

Is it me or can anyone with a laptop and an internet card get the internet ANYWHERE now and dont need to have it run through the walls of the building they are in any more?

Even if Bethel London didnt have or allow it inside....unless the Bethelites are LOCKED IN...they can access it elsewhere.

Some years ago there was a memo from the Publishing Committee to all Branch Committees worldwide that no internal network in any Bethel was to be connected to the internet. The excuse given was that apostates would use this access to try to hack into sensitive Society files.

If any Bethelite needed to use the internet, he had to submit a requisition to the Branch Committee explaining why it was needed and if approved, they were to be provided with a second PC (not connected to the internal network) to access the internet. Log files were to be routinely monitored.

(I expect the 'internet-enabled' PCs would be connected via a separate LAN.)

My friend who told me this said he believed the real reason was to stop Bethelites wasting time (i.e. accessing porn and reading JWD).

See, the GB's not as daft as we thought -- sneaky like a rat ...
