All I remember of the conventions as a teenager in the '70s was the drunkenness and debauchery that went on after and sometimes during the program. Elders' kids were the wildest. It's probably worse now for all I know.
There's something about conventions, I don't care if it's shriners, JWs, navy pilots, or what, they just make people go bonkers.

For me and my buddies it was party time and lets see who picked up who at the Assembly
It was really a big social event for us teenagers.
Complete with all the new suits and dresses for the girls.

I used to hang out in the corridors with all the other teens wearing too much makeup and sun dresses. Usually there was going to be a party somewhere and , everyone's job was to locate it and spread the world.
