Dear GB: What should we do?

    Dear GB,

We have some very old elders in our BOD, and they sleep whenever we have a BOD meeting. Sometimes we need to take votes but they are even snoring. What should we do?

    1. Should we wake them up and retell them whole thing so they can vote?
    2. Should we let them sleep and but grab and rise their arms for them, so they can vote even when they are sleeping?
    3. Should we ignore them as we usually do?

    Sincerly,

    OOTB (A.k.a. the undercover elder)

PS: This is a true story. :)

    Dear Brother,

We, the GB, encounter your situation on a regular basis.
Jehovah works through the 2/3rds majority here, and we must assume
it was His spirit that allowed the other GB members to stay alive despite
their inability to stay awake. What can be done is to rephrase the questions
    being voted on:

If you need the sleeping member's vote, change the vote to the opposite.
Instead of "Those in favor of...." let them sleep and ask "Those opposed to
this idea...." and their hand will stay down. They will vote "for" your proposal
by not being opposed to it.

When your body objects, just remind them that it it Jehovah's guidance.

We hope that clears that up.

    Dear brother

We feel that 2/3rds of your BOE should be sufficient for you to shepherd the flock, esp if the awake elders are actually on the Service Committee.

In addition, we are willing to wager that the ones who are asleep would only wake up and be total d*ckheads anyway. Consider, they would probably make some comment like "... thats not how we used to do it." or "... I didn't agree with you being an elder anyway." Best just let them snooze.

We wish you all the best.

Traditionally, a thump to the skull is the cure for sleepiness during meetings.

    OOTB:

Knowing your BOE, I suggest you to let them sleep. Anyways, the Elders that sleep during the meetings never have any comments about anything.

    Dear Brother,

Hold a vote on "those opposed to a packet of mustard being squeezed in their hair, raise your hand".

Then give those who did not oppose it what they voted for.

Any of them who no longer want to have mustard in their hair will catch up on their sleeping at the public talk or service meeting.

It is a conscience matter to use other condiments.

    sincerely, your GB
