At mid-day the average amount of time a solar spotlight remains on any one individual is about four minutes.
LOL.
You actually timed this event, didn't you.
I don't know how you do it.

Thank you Open Mind! Any more detail of what you have already described or more notes on what the content was would be most appreciated - I have a relative I may drop a few comments to before they go in order to try and trigger some thought.

Guilty.
A special treat was when the fog/clouds would pass overhead and the blue squares would turn white.
Awesome.
My wife came up with a good time-passer.
She leans over and says:
Her: "See that big guy on the end in the bright yellowish-green shirt?"
om: "I think so. You mean the guy who's sound asleep with the drool dripping onto his tie?" (OK, I made the drool part up.)
Ms om: "OK, look around and see how many splashes of that same color you can see."
om: "Whoa! Good one!"
C'mon all you JWD slackers. See what a fine banquet you're missing?
It's not too late!
Summer's not over!
(Apologies to the Aussies.)

OM,
Hope you don't mind me sharing some of my observations from this year's DC. I was going to do my own post, but I'm pretty much too lazy!!
Sat attendance - up around 22% from Friday
Sun attendance - up around 30% from Friday
Yet - they announced that next year they will be having 3 day DCs. My guess is because there will be international conventions (a nice little profit center for the WT - check out the cost on these trips!)
On Sat, there was one talk that was supposed to be "direct, hard hitting counsel" designed to "save our lives" about dress and not going to college. I saw stillajwexelder posted about the no denim. I think this was the talk but it must not have been a manuscript because the speaker here didn't mention that. He did hit on "proper" dress while touring bethel (after all, who doesn't want to put on a suit to tour a printing facility?) and at meetings. Nothing was said here about how to dress otherwise. That same part had an interview with a 21 year old pioneer who dropped out of college after 2 years to pioneer. Also, I though of Open Mind when the speaker said to pray to "get rid of cynical tendencies"
Sunday was a real borefest but there was some interesting stuf fin the drama. I did try to picture myself as Sciolo (or whatever the hell that made up character was). I really didn't think that as an ex-elder, I could have any influence with anyone but apparently I can. Got to really step up my game! Also, nice touch on having the girl that had put "worldly interests" ahead of WT "Godly interests" have her potential boyfriend ripped apart by wild beasts in front of her. Way to give the 12 y/o kids nightmares!
I can't bear to open those two books yet, but I'll try to get around to it sometime this week.
PS - I'll also "borrow" your Friday post and add a couple of points.
PPS - I drank every night. Oh well, at least its done!
Eyes Open:
I don't have my notes with me right now, but I'll give it some thought. If not, I'll look at them tonight and post more tomorrow.
One thing to remember is that only a few talks on a DC are 100% manuscripts. Most talks and demonstrations are from an outline. So, for example, the young guy who said that he can't imagine Rap & Hip Hop being in the New Order might only have been said exactly like that at OUR DC. Having said that, the kid's comment definitely had the DO's stamp of approval.
Oh yeah. The guy giving the talk after the kid's Rap/Hip-Hop guilt fest said this:
"One more iPod hits the trash!"

SUNDAY:
Interview with a guy who got down-sized.
(Amazing he would share such detailed genital information in front of 9000 dubs. Go figure.)
Badda-boom.
But seriously folks, this guy was very articulate, well-dressed, self-assured and confident. He lost his job. Tells his wife. You can probably fill in the rest. They decide to simplify. Move into an apartment and get part-time jobs and pioneer. There were a couple of details that were allowed to slip in that I would have been suspicious about anyway.
1. Kids. No kids were mentioned. That takes a huge pressure off right there.
2. Their assets. He mentioned that they had a "home and some other real esate". This is California. Home of million-dollar apartments. Well, at least up until last year. Dude probably sold at the top of the bubble. (Jehober's direction no doubt. ) How did he get a "home and other real estate"? College perhaps? Either that or he's a great business person who did some serious moving & shaking to get where he was. Bottom line: They didn't follow the Borg party line from day one and as a result accumulated some assets that they are now at least partially living off. Big whoop. Jehoba provides. All praise Allah.
My daughter was asking me on Saturday after the program about all these stories about how Jehovah provides. I said, show me ONE EXAMPLE in modern times that is documented, provable and unquestionably of supernatural origin. It's all just social networking. "Jehovah provides" is ALWAYS a combination of a person's own hard work, mooching and/or coincidence.

if they ban country music, i might go back! ;-)
Doubting Bro: "Also, nice touch on having the girl that had put "worldly interests" ahead ofWT"Godly interests" have her potential boyfriend ripped apart by wild beasts in front of her."
What?! Tell more...
That would be great, Open Mind, as and when it's convenient. Thanks.
