New Idea Could Solve Black Hole Information Mystery

But, it always reminds me of "the light getting brighter and brighter" mantra of the JWs. When people hold the current scientific "knowledge" up as the "Truth", I always shudder, because somewhere down the line, (maybe after we're dead and gone) something newer and brighter will reveal that what we thought was true was just an illusion or a half-truth.

I don't particularly disagree with this, because it's inevitable that science will have to change its views on certain matters as time progresses and we discover new things. The analogy with the WBTS I think is somewhat false, however, because they base their 'new light' on an interpretation of a book written by men, which has literally thousands of different interpretations. There is also little in the way of 'peer review', which I imagine must have worked in a way where people from other religious traditions were to go over their new discoveries and... well, falsify them. Read the same passages and... "repeat their experiments". Only, anything is pretty much up for grabs there, 'cause one can claim to be the only one who possesses the Holy Spirit decoder ring - and voilà; 'we have the truth, you don't'.

It's OK to be skeptical of various findings and sometimes feel like science may be incomplete (as it has to be), but my question would be; what should we replace it with? What should we replace the scientific method with, as the tool with which we attempt to understand the physical universe? "Read your Bible every day"? OK, that was a little facetious, but I think you get my point. We can't just listen to any crackpot who thinks he's got a brilliant idea but can't really tell how it works when met by other scientists; we have to go with whatever theory or hypothesis is supported by the biggest amount of evidence. What other choice do we have?

If I was blind and could choose between two helpers to guide me throughout my day, one who investigated the road ahead and came back with factual reports about what happened up there, and another who didn't investigate but made up fanciful stories which he thought sounded nice and appealing, I would go with the first guy. It may be a little more boring, but it might help me avoid getting hit by the construction crane the first guy told me about, which the other guy had 'guessed' was a cuddly, ten foot teddy bear, because it sounded so nice.

Not a great believer of black holes. Much controversy over the theory. Same as "dark energy".

Come on now. Where do you think all the old light from the WT goes? I'll bet there is a black hole at bethel somewhere (someones headmaybe).

LOL….. I was about to switch off for the night and I just caught this….Very good……

Imagine how much 'old light' is crammed into the societies big 'black hole'…….??

How 'dense' must it all be……??? They certainly don’t want anything escaping from there…..not even the 'old light'......

I’m convinced. See, all I needed was some evidence…….

It's surprisingly dense, considering all the empty space between all those ears!
