Great comments from all, as usual. The more I consider this-and it has been on my mind since I spoke to her. . .The more I am just disturbed at her flat out lying to me. You all need to understand-we have a pretty good relationship. We love each other, get along, talk all the time. We pretty much leave religion out of it, but her lying and coy attitude about it just makes me wonder about her. How insane is it to flat out deny what is easily found to be the truth? I have always thought she had some integrity- a weird JW code, but still something I could count on regarding her honesty to me directly. Things like this more fully convince me that she is in a (flat out, no nice 'sect/religion') CULT. I am calling my sister today to unload on her (poor thing), but I am increasingly wondering about Mom's sanity and/or her integrity.
My mom thinks she has a big secret that is known only to those at the hall.

The Aid to Bible Understanding book says jws are only obligated to tell the truth to people who deserve to hear it--it's called theocratic wafare. Anyway, she was only playing by the society's rules, so there is no integrity there.

Well, how can jws continue to deny the sex abuse cases, the doctrinal flip flops, etc. when they are all over the Internet and the national news? It's easy--it's called DENIAL.
