okay all, I know we talked about this a couple months ago but I am certain that in just the last few days JWD has seen an enormous surge in Newbies!

Should we be concerned or excited or what??

Are we in a "sifting work" again? Are all these org changes sending the thinkers packing???

Judging from my wife... no sifting going on...

But you never know who is going to wake up to the WTS's game. I'm impressed with the number of exelders (not talking about stilla) and current elders on this site. Then again, there are also probably plenty of newbie JWs entering into the revolving door that leads to lifelessness.

STILL IN 74- Good thread ! Yes, I think we should be excited as it shows people are starting to think critically on their own - mainly because the JW beliefs are so inconsistent ! First they believe in the generation from 1914, then they don't, you can go to college for awhile, now you can't , you can have oral sex , now you can't . I mean, jeez ! Talk about control - next thing they will tell people when to take a $hit or a piss for christ's sakes ! I mean it gets to be rigoddamned diculous !

So yes, it is a great thing people are waking up - the Watchtower society and governing body are screwing themselves up by all the flip flop in beliefs - and I truly believe in time the rank and file will tire of it. Not to mention the child abuse crisis as well. Let's here it for the newbies ! Right on ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Hi everyone, I am a newbie. I'm not a JW and never have been. I'm here for my daughter, son-in-law and grand-kids. I need to find way's to try to open their eye's that they are not in the truth as they believe they are. My daughter was not raised JW. She married a man that was raised JW and she got baptized 5 yrs. ago. I was actually searching the web to see if I could find bible scripture that backs up the belief of not celebrating bdays. I stumbled on this sight and thought I could get some insight to see if their are any scriptures that back up celebrating bdays, holidays, ect...

I have read coc and in search of christain freedom. Big eye opener. I wish I could just tell them to go to this sight and READ but I know they what they have been told about the internet. I would love to just give them the book COC, but knowing they could get d'fellowshipped just from reading it, they would probably just throw it away.

I hope y'all don't mind my being here. I'm just trying to learn all I can and hopefully find a way to reach my daughter and husband before they get my grand-kids brain washed into this WTS.

Just thought I would explain why I'm here and I'am very thankful for all the great info.

I call it an awakening. Interesting isn't it. But, they all have to start somewhere. It is all part of the therapeutic recovery of JWism. Ex-JW's need a place to vent an to "find" they are not alone in their endeavors. Leaving the JW is a challenging situation within itself let alone the recovery of the cultish socialism that it brings. It is a society of obsessive oppressiveness and they have to rid themselves of the hold it has on them.

It's nice to have many newbies but even so they are only a small percentage of those leaving the cult in the English speaking countries and as far as I know this is the main english language ex JW forum. No doubt many more are benefitting by lurking but never posting.
