I'm trying to see outside this box of pain we live over this!

Dont some of you feel there is a 'connect' between the persistent sexual repression and the apparent incidence of deviance?

Like its hardly as though JWs provide a Karma Sutra for married couples = and it does make you wonder about the Western values which insist on defering sexual practices till humans are post education age - unlike some Eastern faiths which synchronise it with biological developments = younger women!

Is it possible to impose regulation on nature and human biology without increased incidence of aberations?

Our developed world is not only at war with its oceans, atmosphere and flora, but seemingly with its inner self!

We see the advantages for educating and extending choice to live childless but at what price for the change?

I wonder - long term - what is to be done?

Are some of you in favor of more prisons? And is this male slavery?(most prisons are full of men!) Why? How do these problems keep recycling errant males?? I'm curious as to underlying features in society which perpetuate this cycle!

If male and female are equally 'perverted' then why not equally locked up and condemned? An oddity of humanity it seems?

If we need more jails to provide lengthy sentences for dangerous people then I'm all for it.

Slavery? Through the centuries people have profited from slaves. If I'm paying taxes to incarcerate some one in an effort to protect society, how can you call it slavery? If you entered a prison and did a survey you might find many who want to be there, feeling life outside is worse.

"The determination that pedophiles are unreformable is a new one! It is indisputably an addiction but so are many other things: alcohol, smoking, gambling, drugs, sex, homosexuality. "

Yes, but there is one difference. Smoking is not considered a crime. Pedophilia is. IF it is reported to the proper authorities, which JWs so frequently do not do.

No one has gone to jail for chain-smoking. (Yet.) They HAVE gone to jail for pedophilia.

Basically, your father is equating the seriousness of child molestation with smoking or drinking. It looks like HE is the one who needs help with re-adjusting his 'vision', so that he can see pedophilia for what it really is - a crime to a small helpless child who has made the mistake of trusting an adult who is a pedophile.

    Regards,

As with all who commit serious offenses , the commitee must decide whether the offender is cut to the heart by his offense or not. The feelings of those who are victims MUST be considered. This is a great responsibility placed on the commitee. Is the offender sincerely remorseful? Is it a single offense? Is it a public scandel? Will the offender avoid any opportunity to repeat his sin? Careful examination and observation of the offender is made. The primary obligation of the commitee is to insure the cleanliness of the congregation, to prevent any repetition of the offense, and to show mercy if this is warranted by the offender's demeanor

What about the fact that pedophilia is a heinous, despicable, incurable crime? Beyond 'considering the feelings of the victims', what about the elders' responsibilities to protect their flock, ie the children/victims?

I love how consideration as to whether it's a public scandal or not plays into how they handle it.

    Love this gem!

In other words protect the congregations reputation, not the children!

It amazes me how little he talks about the children in his response?

As with all who commit serious offenses , the committee must decide whether the offender is cut to the heart by his offense or not. ........ Is it a public scandal? ................... Careful examination and observation of the offender is made. The primary obligation of the committee is to insure the cleanliness of the congregation

Just an attitude formed by the WTS ...The committee take upon themselves the role of judge jury, counsellor and "expert assessor" and what specialist training have they had? None! yet they consider themselves superior to the specialists out in Satan's world". I note that one consideration is whether it is a public scandal? So if it was hushed up, the perp is more likely to off lightly.. The biggest failing is that they treat it the same as any other Judicial Sin, but it is not, It is different. It is the most heinous of crimes and one born of a deep psychotic flaw in the charecter of the sinner. It is NOT the same as smoking a cigarette or having a flutter on a racehorse , but the dubs treat it the same

Its no secret that repressed sexuality creates molesters. It warps the mind, turns sex into something else.

and destroys the victims. The dubs will never grasp that its NOT UP TO THEM to treat these people.Prayer isnt going to cut it.Faith isnt going to make it go away. And their laughable JCs wont make someone this damaged stop or change.

From what Ive read molesters often feel guilty, especially if they were molested as children. But it doesnt make them STOP.

http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_D_webtestify.23d1b64.html I don't think this article mentions he will face charges for a third victim after this case. My comment on a forum regarding this case went like this; "I hope the jury considers the little girls who were not brave enough to come forward". I trust statistics and they show reported sex offenses are far less than what is actually occurring. They also show that pedophelia is an incurable disease with a higher rate of repeat offenders than any other crime even when there has been jail time served. Three victims and all three came forward???? Today this man is out on bail and probably attending meetings in a congregation where the R+F were unaware of his crimes before the law and the media got involved. There are more victims no one is aware of and if they occurred because of the secrecy of these three elders, I trust Jehovah will smite them for complicity. Really, these men have nothing more than a high school education. How can they be qualified to handle such a serious issue? There not! Reproach upon Jehovah's name. I've heard it all. There must be hundreds of cases like this going thru the legal system we don't hear about. The ones we do hear about have something sensational about them. When will someone realize an attempt to hide it adds to the sensationalism causing the reproach and embarrassment they intended to avoid and that's not with just the witnesses. I should write the WTS and tell them that because I think they have the reproach issue backwards. I might also research the Governing Body, to see if any of them have more than a high school education. I hear Bethel is for sale.
This is my original note. Blues, I agree on the qualification aspects and I was a bit, no a lot sarcastic in my note regarding education. Must be true if he couldn't comment on it. I expect him to ask me again where I do my research and how I could hear about Bethel. LOL
