See "Appeal highlights church confidentiality." Do you think the accused is really interested in the clergy/penitent privilege?

Sinay denied telling anyone about Simental's statements to him when he testified last week in court.

The elder is now denying he told the girls parents about the confession!!! Guess this also means he did not report it to Headquarters.

    Theocratic warfare at work?

  • wha happened?
    wha happened?

This really sickens me. The parents have already testified that a conversation took place. So now the committee is denying anything was said? (gag). Put the pedophile in jail already. Stop trying to protect the "organization" which will sell u out in a New York minute

In last week's ruling in Superior Court, Judge Dickerson said having three elders involved made this judicial committee a fact-finding body not concerned with maintaining confidentiality.

A judicial committee was akin to an investigation into immoral conduct, not a religious practice in which Simental went to the elders seeking forgiveness or spiritual guidance, Dickerson said.

In his decision, Dickerson noted that Sinay and Vaughn met with the parents of the two girls who allege they were molested by Simental.

If I know something about the case or the procedure, as I do with JW procedure, I usually spot errors in
reporting or judgment. Judge Dickerson is pretty smart to recognize that the judicial committee is
not concerned with confidentiality in these cases, and that it is not a case of seeking guidance from the
elders, and they blew their own confidentiality already.

This is going to force changes in the U.S.A. on judicial committees. But this case is on the present and
past procedure. They will most certainly lose an appeal, IMO.

Don't hang them for lying. I am confident they are telling a version of the truth.
They probably "indicated" that Simental admitted to "wrongdoing" without specifically
saying that he molested these girls.

You know- the typical leaking of gossip by inuendo. The parents saw it as an admission.
The elders further deny telling HQ any direct statements, but that's just legal mumbo jumbo
    for not providing direct quotes.

Or.... the WT does not reveal the truth to those not entitled to know it.

Excellant reporting by Tammy McCoy.When she wrote the first article on this I emailed her and told her to follow this case as far as she could. I told her that she should do a little more digging into the preactices of the WTS in these matters.
