I have a link to the UN response if anyone wants it: http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/pdfs/watchtower.pdf (sorry if I am reposting)

The problem is that most people still want to believe that it isn't real. When I first started learning about all of this, I ran out and told a bunch of people expecting them to react like I did. But they didn't. They just dismissed it. When I told a relative about the response letter on the UN website, they said that we couldn't trust the UN because it the the "Scarlet Colored Wild Beast".

The WT Society has done an incedibly effective job of creating distrust in everyone/everything but them.

It's like they have everyone addicted to "Crazy Pills".

Re-Studying the Rev Book just proves that the borg thinks we are all stupid sheeple, and why not after seeing how many Elders bought that piece of 'theocratic warfare" spewed by Ciro about a library card.

If anyone gets to Witness to a Witless make sure you emphasis the fact the WTBS is still a NGO for that little para-military group known as the OSCE

Do you know of any links showing OSCE & WTBTS affiliation? It would be helpful if we had something to prove it to JWs.

they said that we couldn't trust the UN because it the the "Scarlet Colored Wild Beast"

Sadly, this is true. They have such an over-inflated sense of their own importance. Like an organization like the UN would go to such great lengths to discredit an insignificant group like the JWs.

I can not say whether or not the UK Gaurdian is a purveyor of "apostate propaganda", but this is the story they broke in 2001 about the WT-UN marriage and a follow up article about the hasty divorce.

am surprised that present JW's are studying 'Revelation-Its Grand Climax', especially in view of the recent disclosure that the Society had been a signed-up member of the United Nations for 10 years.

I am also surprised, how many times has this book been covered now? Its a little obsolete under the circumstances.

You might also point out that if the Guardian articles are demonstrably false, that it would be libelous and legally actionable.

Given that the Watchtower lawyers are very aggressive, where are the libel lawsuits? If there are none, then why not? Make your doubter explain this one.

I wanted to choke a few weeks ago when the conductor went on and on about how that WWII was instigated by the Pope, and that the Catholic church played the biggest part in the formation of Nazi Germany.

Nevermind the treaty of Versailles... war reparations... a major depression... none of those things played a part. It was "Babylon the Great" pulling strings again.

And people just sit there and nod in agreement, or make additional moronic comments that underscore the fact that they know little of real history outside of what the orgaization tells them.

Clearly, the UN is not the messenger of peace that mankind needs.

What will be the outcome of all of this? Jehovah’s prophetic Word leaves no doubt. In the first place, what lies ahead for the world’s false religions that have so often been extremely friendly with the UN? They are the offspring of one idolatrous fountainhead, ancient Babylon. Appropriately, they are described at Revelation 17:5 as "Babylon the Great, the mother of the harlots and of the disgusting things of the earth." Jeremiah described the doom of this hypocritical conglomerate. Harlotlike, they have seduced earth’s politicians, flattering the UN and forming illicit relations with its member political powers.

Here is another little gem in the 3/22/1990 Awake entitles " Judged out of Their Own Mouth"

    g903/22p.19JudgedoutofTheirOwnMouth***

REPRESENTING all of Europe’s professed Christian churches, 638 delegates met last May in Basel, Switzerland, for the European Ecumenical Assembly "Peace With Justice." They adopted, by a vote of 94.5 percent, a final document that can therefore be viewed as a consensus document of European Christendom. Let this document answer a few questions we might appropriately ask. (The numbers in parentheses refer to document sections.)

Are these churches worshiping the one true God, Jehovah, and maintaining proper Christian unity?

Despite this admission, are they turning their back on rule by man and putting their trust in God’s established Kingdom?

"Three important and momentous developments call for special attention: the improvementofEast-Westrelations in the CSCE [Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe] process; the democraticreforms in the Soviet Union and other East European countries; the processofWesternEuropeanintegration (Single European Act, which takes full effect as of the beginning of 1993)." (51)

"The international framework of the UnitedNations should be made more effective. They have proven that they can be helpful in solving regional conflicts, in assisting the development efforts of many countries, in dealing with environmental problems. Therefore, there is a need for the governments of the world to increase their support of the United Nations and to translate this support into tangible form." (83)

Is there any indication that they may change their policy of political involvement in the near future?

What is the Bible principle to be applied in judging the religions that drew up this final document?

Matthew 12:37 says: "By your words you will be declared righteous, and by your words you will be condemned." (See also Luke 19:22.) How does European Christendom measure up? Do her words declare her righteous, or do they condemn her? In view of the above quotations, can there be any doubt?

    *******************************************************************************************************************************************************************

So here we see condemnation for those religions for calling for improvementofEast-Westrelations in the CSCE , endorsing such an organization rather then trusting in God’s established Kingdom.

Funny thing about the CSCE..... read

    g978/22p.31OSCE—WhatIsIt?WillItSucceed?***

    OSCE—What

    IsIt?WillItSucceed?

    By Awake! correspondent in Portugal

AFTER World War II, a power struggle arose between Western democratic capitalist countries and the Eastern Communist Soviet bloc. Each bloc developed its own security organization: the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the West and the Warsaw Pact in the East.

By 1975 the Cold War had thawed enough for 35 States, including the United States and Russia, to sign what came to be called the Helsinki Agreement. The Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) was born. It was a multilateral forum for dialogue and negotiation between the two blocs.

At the Budapest Summit in 1994, the CSCE changed its name to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Today, it is composed of 54 participating States, including the United States, Canada, and all the countries of the former Soviet Union.

    Its

    Objective

The objective of the member nations of the OSCE is to guarantee the security of Europe as well as to foster the implementation of human rights, disarmament, democratic freedoms and the management of regional conflict.

A summit meeting of the OSCE was held in Lisbon, Portugal, on December 2-3, 1996. At first, attention was focused on NATO, since several NATO members, including the United States, are in favor of the expansion of NATO to include more nations from Central and Eastern Europe. But rather than support the enlargement of NATO to include former Eastern bloc allies, Russia and some of her former Eastern bloc allies want the OSCE to become the forum for matters of European security.

The Russian prime minister, Viktor Chernomyrdin, said at the meeting: "We are in favor of strengthening the OSCE, which is the only place in Europe where all States can work together. It is the best international place for discussing security and defense."

The radiant afternoon sun seemed to create a climate of general optimism at the close of the summit, despite the comments of the press regarding its nebulous results. Whatever success or failure the OSCE may realize, peace lovers everywhere can be assured that true peace and security will soon be realized earth wide under the rule of God’s Kingdom.—Psalm 72:1, 7, 8.

    ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************

This is the same OSCE (former CSCE) that the WTBS enjoys NGO status today.
