My guess is that the artist was just not very inspired, and just looked outside the window at the skyline. That's it. The golden-brick road leading towards the viewer is reminiscent of the Brooklyn Bridge leading towards Bethel, the dominating tower(s) are analoguous to the Twin Towers, the building just behind the golden tower on the right looks like one of the WFC towers and is in the right position, the building further on the right fits the position of the Woolworth Building, and another building with a trapezoid roof on the left of the golden towers also fits one of the buildings in the Manhattan skyline in that approximate position. The building in the foreground on the left could correspond to a similar building in Brooklyn on the left side of the Brooklyn Bridge, and it has a similar structure on the roof.

This is the view from Bethel (with the WTC added in):

    Compare:

Even the two buildings on the right of the bridge kind of fit the two foreground buildings on the right of the golden-brick road.

Too bad we haven't had any of these artists go apostate and give us the inside scoop on here.
