March 20th had been officially declared as Sweater Day in honor of Fred Roger's birthday which is on that day.

Mr. Rogers was awesome.
You never saw a mr. rodgers doll or toy. He did not commercialize what he was doing. he just talked to kids.

the elementary school in this town has been doing a 5th grade project for over 20 years, called "famous americans" ....
the students write a report, draw an extensive and impressive timeline, do a (nearly) life size cutout portrait of their famous american, and the community is invited to an event where the students march into the commons dressed as their subject, and the attendees ask questions to try to figure out who they are..... the usual suspects like lincoln and washington, but some obscure folk like eugenie clark and marion anderson
my youngest asked and got mr. rogers added to the list the year after he died.... and SHE did a great job..... we even got a daniel stri-ped tiger hand puppet.....
we really liked fred
i am betting she will wear a sweater.....
