Yeah, those awful Chess king/Jay Jacobs suits in the late 80's. The miami vice thing, etc., etc. I usually wore vintage sixties sharkskin suits w the skinny ties during those fads. I'm a purist.

We had the obligatory dark suit with white dress shirt in my former congregation. They just about spelled out everything that we were allowed to wear--no ties with too much flash or that were excessively wide or narrow, no shoes that were not the most formal style and color, we had to wear black dress socks, and everything that could set one apart or might look good on one person but not someone else was outright banned. Houndings were given out for violating the uniform code.
