Have you guys done any Myers/Briggs personality profiling in your class?

We've done so many self test things that I'm not sure. Hold on and I'll check your link out and see.

Right now we're testing our empathy levels. Quite a bit of people can understand or see another person's perspective as long as there isn't a strong dislike for the individual. Once that emotional feeling kicks in, logic tends to go out the window even if the one we strongly dislike is right.

It is indeed difficult to empathize with an enemy, but in the long run, it can reap wonderful results. Many a war could have been avoided if people put bruised egos aside and tried to understand the opposition's point of view.

This was a good test Changeling. According to Myers/Briggs I'm ENGJ. This test was more detailed than the ones we've had to do in class so I liked it more.

My opinion is that a person can show true empathy only if they have actually faced the same situation as another. Anything else is an ersatz empathy.

    JK, maybe....

trying to think on that one...can a person see another person's perspective even though they haven't been through certain things? Not sure, it might be a fake perspective like you said...hmmmm...more like forced empathy I think.

Then again, I've never been homeless but I can see their perspective from thinking on how I would feel in their situation. I guess I should say, I think I can see from their point of view.

I gotta call it a night, I'm over analyzing and my brain is hurting...LOL...though this stuff fascinates me.

I mean where do you go when you sit with a person you feel ruined your life and they wait for you to say sorry and make up somehow for having made them reject you?

And if you did that several times already thinking some reason would kick in sometime, it leaves you less and lower evry time! It leaves you wonderin WTF you're thinkin to yourself!

    Hey FF

You is right - there are many pictures of one scene with light and contour unforseen which with a timely twist of fate can give you visions to relate!

I believe that some more than others have the ability to show true empathy to another even though they haven't been in the same situation. Those are the ones that are able to direct their lives to the service of others.

For most of us, I agree. That is why I come here. For ex jw empathy.

FREEDOM FROG- Good thread ! I have empathy for people most all the time - unless they are intentional a - holes. Then I find it difficult. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Thanks Mr. Flipper. Even with intentional a-holes...they too have a perspective...so if a person can see their perspective regardless, then that person is empathetic towards the a-hole....or at least that's my understanding on our lesson...

Ok, now I'm really going to sleep...Night all...lol
