The tiniest and loudest member of the Jackson 5, MJ seemed to have the dream childhood—a recording career, the support of a large and loving family, and fame all wrapped into one. Too bad off-stage life wasn't nearly as fun. Parents Joseph and Katherine Jackson reportedly disciplined their children rigidly for "misbehaving"—by spanking or even whipping them.

Rumors of worse family abuses also surfaced in a book written by Michael's sister La Toya, and Joseph was found to have committed marital infidelity at least once. Growing up in a strict Jehovah's Witness family in Gary, Ind., did little to stifle young Michael's creative freedom, however, as he found his passion in music and dancing. And monkeys. And theme parks. And plastic surgery. And having children stay for sleepovers.

From what I've read the abuse was a lot more insidious than just spankings.

Oh Lord! What can I say about MJ?

What a pity ... all that talent ... such a cute kid ... ending up looking like a freak of nature.

I guess now the Watchtower Society is doing more than protecting pedophiles within its organization. They are creating pedophiles as well. Shame on the Watchtower Society for messing up Michael Jackson's childhood and his music career. They have destroyed value in enormous measure. They have prevented Michael Jackson from releasing more albums, and have made a mess out of his life. I think they owe society at least 30 CDs of the quality of the Thriller LP (one of the all-time best albums).

And, no Kingdumb Sxxx either. That doesn't even qualify as music. I want music that is the quality of the music on the Thriller LP. I feel that, without the hardships created by the Watchtower Society, Michael Jackson would still be putting out high quality music to this day. I think he would have had another 15 or 20 years of good music writing and performing ahead of him. Truly, Thriller shows me that Michael Jackson knows how to perform.
