Greist, 53, formerly of East Coventry Township, was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 1980 for fatally stabbing his pregnant wife, ripping his unborn son from her womb, mutilating the fetus, blinding his then-6-year-old daughter in one eye, slashing his grandmother's throat, and other offenses.

Greist is permitted to attend church services at the West Norristown Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses every Sunday for three hours.

The court heard about one of the newest chapters in Greist’s life, his marriage to his wife Frances M. Greist, 46, of New Zealand, on Nov. 29 -- Greist’s third wife.

The couple met through a Jehovah’s Witness Web site in June 2004. Richard became a member of the church during his stay at Norristown State Hospital; Frances, who worked tutoring math skills to adults, joined the religion shortly after her husband of 17 years left her.

The couple take Bible classes at the hospital and More believes her husband would never harm her. She told the Timaru Herald last month that from the moment she met Greist, she knew he was the man for her. "I trust him completely and know he would never strike me."

Judge Locke Williams denied Walters' motion on the grounds that the sentence is a final judgment and Benton County Circuit Court has no further jurisdiction over the case.

Walters was initially sentenced to 60 years in prison for the same incident in 1987 after a jury found him guilty of attempted kidnapping, attempted rape and attempted sodomy.

When he was again convicted and resentenced in 1995, the attempted rape and sodomy charges were dismissed, leaving only attempted kidnapping. Under current sentencing guidelines, established in 1989, the conviction would result in a sentence of about 28 months. Essentially, Walters got 30 years knocked off his original sentence, but, due to his dangerous offender status, he will still be incarcerated until 2017, when he'll turn 73.

Walters, now held in the Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, thinks the 17 years he's already served is enough.

He has completed beauty school requirements and wants to open a beauty salon with a partner in Coos Bay, he said. He has also been reinstated as a Jehovah's Witness and wants to share his faith out of prison.

Did you say 15 years for 105 rapes? 15 years for 1 rape maybe but surely you're are joking.

Probably not. This is Europe. You can get away with pretty much anything here, with just a slap on the wrist. That is why I admire the U.S. judicial system. You know how to deal with this kind of scum over there.
