My dad was on the D Day landings 2800 of his regiment went out about 800 returned. He saw Dresden and the c,c, camps. Hardly ever spoke about it, he said bad enough being there!

The Americans were late for first one and late for the second .The British held the ring until the Americans joined in .The USA with President Roosevelt knew all along that they would have to join in it was just a matter of choosing the right moment and having the public on side and of course Pearl Harbour made the American public sit up and take notice.The American government must have spent years planning in secret on a war that might happen, they didn't just suddenly decide to take action.
As for bombing Dresden ,personally I dont think it was needed but what do I know.I recently saw a map of where all V1 and V2's landed in London and it was saturated with thousands being killed, believe me USA cities would have been next on Hitlers list. It was a very close run thing.
No offence but the Americans are famous for bombing here there and everywhere more so than the Brits; but we are partners and the waktower says we are a joint evil empire so it must be true.
