So you think these companies are REALLY interested from a moral point of interest?
They have either found a way to make twice as much or they have been offered a substantial amount of "payola" for taking this view.
How can you be so naive?

Doesn't matter a jot. They don't need to believe it for it to work. Of course, these companies are made up of people who have morals, and its quite likely that at least some of them have genuine concerns about climate change. They and their children will be affected, after all.

Well, being energy-efficient is inherently more profitable for obvious reasons. Companies that have already made steps towards energy-efficiency, carbon-neutrality etc. are likely to want governments to reward them for this, while punishing those who continue to pollute. That is also what the environmental movement wants. Everybody wins, except those who continue to destroy the world.

Why must you be so cynical?

Great points, fd.
They win on many levels.
They win the public.
They gain an edge over their less responsible competitors.
Oh, and there's that thing about preventing the destruction of the world.
Global warming is in my view a scam, when it is solely attributed to mankind, we haven't been around here long enough to buy that argument, it may and probably is cyclic (spelling) we keep saying its hotter now than ever before, but go and check the statistics for 1934 and you many just find that that was the hottest year in the last centruy and still holds the record. Until proved that it is mankind that is causing this problem I won't believe it. Global warming probably but cyclical in nature probably. Getting rid of green house gases a good thing, doing what we can to find alternate fuels also a good thing, if for no other reason than to avoid paying money for oil form the middle east. Lets get away from that, we have our own reserves here and in the ocean near by lets use those not middle east oil. And lets have a concentrated effort by the administration and others to find alternate sources of fuel. Let's let oil be the back up, not the primary source.
