Hi all, I emailed many of you the other day with info that NBC was set to air a segment regarding the Jehovah's Witnesses. That segment finally aired tonight. Many of you might not have been able to see it so I'm sending a link I hope you will please take the time to look at. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21917798/ The reality is that over the years when people came forward to report child abuse to their elders, they were told specifically not to report to the police and in many cases when people have gone ahead to take care of matters legally, people have been disfellowshipped or removed from the congregation. This affects ALL of us. Not just JW's. Everytime a potential child molester has not been reported to the police, this means that the child molester has access to children everywhere. The elders, indeed, the Watchtower Society has known about this and has only finally started to change their policies when it became an issue and they were being called out for it. I've asked you before and I'm asking again, please pass this on. You never know who is talking to a JW at their door and would be too embarrassed to tell their friends. You never know. The only way the media is going to cover this to the extent that they have covered the Catholic Church is if people demand it, so please write into the various media outlets and tell them you want to know more about this! Write NBC and thank them for doing a piece on this and tell them you want to know more! Write your local news and tell them how important this is. In some ways this is worse than the Catholic Church .
The Jehovah's Witnesses silences anyone who dares to question the authority of the Watchtower Society. There are thousands of people who have lost all contact with their family and friends for questioning their beliefs and the manner that the WTS has handled the child abuse.
