Vinny, though I never intended my words to develop in this direction, you have certainly proven the point that I was trying to make.

In contrast: hillary step, you earlier made an observation about Mary Magdalene. I agree with you: she has demonstrated a remarkable ability to take critical observations about her belief system, without resorting to insinuations about the motives of those who disagreed with her. And, though I disagree with her in many ways, I sincerely respect her for her ability to "absorb" what otherwise might be considered an 'attack,' and instead interpret such remarks as an opportunity to learn yet more about herself...and vice versa.

There are a number of Christians (jgnat and mouthy and others), and JWs, and agnostics, and diehard atheists, on JWD who have demonstrated the same ability to engage in similarly civil, albeit somewhat challenging, conversation about such matters...and many of them are people with whom I (and we) continue to have positive personal relationships.

Vinny, I stepped off the street-corner soapbox many years ago; I submit that you might consider doing the same?

Arguing with Vinny is like boxing with a scrawny, but plucky, little guy with no muscles who jumps into the ring with a heavy weight fighter and gets pounded to a bloody pulp. I have only read the last page of what must me a dreadful thread. All we have to ever do is agree to disagree at times. It can be nice, but somtimes spicey, snippy is fun....hey we can take it and banter a little....blood is not flowing even if it gets ugly a bit. In the end just remember we are all really entitled to our own opinions and others know they dont want to read it,,,they can skip it. Is there any problem with this approach?
