I'm also pretty sure the house is located near my house. I'll try to find out, maybe I can "witness" to them.

It has always seemed hypocritical to me for someone to accept something that they would refuse to contribute because it would violate their conscience.

ie: How can you accept blood factions if you would so vehemently refuse to donate blood?

How can this family accept the home provided by ecumenical cooperation and yet refuse to even swim at a Y?

I think this is hypocracy in action. They look like a nice family but their behaviour is not consistent with their stated beliefs.

(posting this reply in both threads)

On Sunday, the builders handed the family a Bible, then an interfaith prayer book, then a copy of the Koran. The prayers and good wishes for them and their house came in several languages: Arabic, Hebrew, Sanskrit, English and French. There was even singing.

all of us know that the watchtower encourages its members to use any kind of assistance they qualify for, how many pioneers are on food stamps? how many jw mothers are on wic and their childrens insurance is paid by the state? nothing wrong with signing up and qualifying for habitat for humanity house. what is so shocking to me, the recipients and the other jw's in the crowd participated in a church service. that is a disfellowshipping offense. accepting literature printed by other religions is a disfellowshipping offense. burgertime since you're from that area, maybe let us know how many of the attendee's are disfellowshipped in the days to come.

Being at the ceremony, and pounding a hammer is a huge difference. They sure weren't listed in the credits. They didn't help a bit!!! And when the churches get together, to build their next home, I will bet they call the Witnesses. "Too busy selling magazines."

i encourage everyone to watch the video burger time posted above.

if you doubt they were part of a religious ceremony..watch it

they have a ceremonial prayer to bless the house and hymn singing.

I talked to my brother, and like I said he heard nothing of it. He was shocked by it. I am guessing nothing will happen as it sheds the dubs in a positive media light. I might try to contact my connection at News14 and see if I can get some answers on if some JW representatives were actually there.

that'd be great..did you recognize any local witnesses on the video?

it seems like a big thing to me.. they're participating in religious services other than the watchtowers.

I didn't notice anyone, but honestly I probably wouldn't as I have only been to a hall once here in 4 years that I've lived in Charlotte. Will definitely do some snooping though. Perhaps even writing a letter.
