5go says:.."you looked rather thick in those threads.

    and then,

5go says:.."I propose asking vinny to get psychiatric help any one else second it." **** See what fine remarks we get from 5go? You gotta love folks like 5go. Amazingly fine contribution from you here. I am impressed. : )

Well, well, well... I'm back form the movies, and checking my thread...

I still think athiests are feared and misunderstood. And this thread shows the hostility with which we are met.

Why is it wrong and scary for an atheist to post his thoughts or share with us something interesting he/she has come accross, but it's OK for some lunatic to post Bible numerology ad nauseum?

I chose not to read religious threads. Why can't those who dislike atheism chose to not read atheists posts?

When a person goes into a bookstore (supposing one frequents such an establishment) don't they gravitate to the sections that have subjects that interest them and avoid those that don't?

Do people who don't believe in psycology, for example, shy away from bookstores, or boycott them, because they have a psycology section? No, not if they are reasonable people.

We can do the same here. Respect and tolerate all who post, but pick and chose according to our taste.

    Simple really.

Vinny: I do wish you would get off nvr's back. I feel you are attacking him personally. If you trully are one who regularly reads posts on this forum you will see what everyone here knows:

thar nvr is one of the kindest, helpful and level headed posters on here.

That should be acknowleged and recognized despite what you may feel about his atheism.

Disagree with his beliefs but don't attack the person.

I agree with you 100% changeling.

The problem is that there are those who like to 'stir the pot' so to speak ... on both sides I'm sure. I think sometimes a theist will see an athiest thread and look to post to see how they can shake things up. I think sometimes an athiest will see a theist thread and do the same. I personally don't have a problem with discussions but I feel it's all about intention, and when people start getting smug and sarcastic (on BOTH sides) is when I think people start to get upset.

I have seen athiests get riled up on this board but I have seen just as many theists get riled up as well.

(stirring the pot) Berk Breathed had a good word for it: offensensitivity

one the one hand, play nicely. On the other hand, grow up and develop a thicker skin.

    ooops, bet I offended someone!
