every non-(X)JW reading this must think "how sick are these people, being happy about a blood transfusion"...
but it's great when someone makes his/her own decision instead of obeying some old cracks in brooklyn. -

The only sad thing about it is if the congregation finds out and the patient survives they'll speak for God and spiritually kill him/her off with no chance of a res erection.

When I was a JW my (ex)wife was very ill. The specialists told us that he often treated JW's and they accepted blood. Visitors and family would be told the patient is sleeping etc during those times. We did not believe him at the time, but now, looking back, I realize he may well have been telling the truth.
