yeah, nice post, very interesting. Pascal's bet depends on a lot of assumptions - that there is only one god, for instance, and that there are only the two choices, believe, or not believe.

I first was appalled at:

Then I thought that, if this could keep you inside (JWs, I suppose), anything would have kept you under some form of mind and life control. You were just not ready to stand on your own feet, past any desire to "win" and any fear to "lose".
But now you are. So may be you've lost nothing, that was just your time.

well it was not litterly tis argument. it was this argument in a more broad sense of course. But indeed, the thought "there is a chance that this is still the truth" kept me 'in' a long time....
