I didn't exist in the 1950's I was born in the early sixties and by the time I grew up society had changed 100% and became what we know it as today. From what older people say life before was more relaxing because there was a stronger spiritual/social dimension and marriage or family life were more stable.
Society changed beyond recognition in just a few years from the mid sixties to the early seventies.
